Well after numerous sketches, we have decided on a format for the Flag of Our Nation. We tried many combinations, beginning with the State Capitol buildings, but when we looked at our sketches we realized that most of them looked almost identical (or nearly so) .... idea one, discarded. The we tried the state seals and while some were quite beautiful, others appeared downright (dare we say it?) ugly.... idea two, dicarded. This went on and on, as nauseam, until we finally hit upon what we felt was the perfect combination. Frans loves images where one is peering through a foreground into the scene beyond. We used this technique in our December 2007 Christmas card and also on the 1992 Wildflowers. We decided to use state symbols - the state bird, state plant, state flower, state butterfly or animal for the foreground - and place a scene that relates to the state in the background. Voila!
